NUNO HENRIQUES

bring together  two  distant  realities,  whether  on  a  more  formal  level,
public target or even by their practitioners –  graffiti  and cross-stitch.  By transposing graffiti into a
distant material as the cross-stitch, transforming its  connotations,  he  converts  public  and  sitespecific urban art into a mobile and private piece that can be acquired

After graduating from Fine Arts University of Lisbon, Nuno Henriques moved to Berlin where he currently lives and works. Nuno Henriques' works bring together  two  distant  realities,  whether  on  a  more  formal level, public target or even by their practitioners – materials belonging to the domestic sphere with content generated in contemporary urban settings, namely graffiti  and cross-stitch.  By transposing graffiti into a distant material as the cross-stitch,  he  converts  public  and  site specific urban art into a mobile and private piece that can be acquired. His work strikes through the contrast between the medium and the content, as well as between the act of "tagging" and that of "cross-stitching" in terms of time and rhythm.
