EMINE CEYLAN

Emine Ceylan, born in Istanbul in 1955, graduated from the Dentistry Faculty of Marmara University in the same city. The artist finally left dentistry in 1998 after running her own dental clinic for 18 years. In 1984, she started focusing on photography. Two years later, she opened her first solo exhibition, entitled “Ardakalan”, at the French Cultural Centre of Istanbul. After publishing her first photo-album in 1987, her show, “Women's Portraits”, exhibited in Bilsak, Istanbul. The artists' photographs were shown in Belgium in 1990, and again in Greece in 2002; while her different well-known solo series such as “Seasons”, “India” and “Who Ever What” were exhibited in Istanbul and Ankara between 1990 and 2007. Her last exhibition, “For My Father”, was to become one of her most important exhibitions. Created together with her brother Nuri Bilge Ceylan, the winner of  “Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival”, it was exhibited at the Milli Reasürans Art Gallery in Istanbul. In addition to her books on photography, Emine Ceylan also has a story book entitled “Winter Journey” that was published by the Norgunk Publications in 2007.
